Students will create a striking, long necklace using two strands of silk or nylon for creative visual impact! Your design will be unique, but here's an example of what you can do:



What you will learn:
- String necklace on silk or nylon string
- Attach clasps and bead tips
- Make knots between beads
- Make design decisions
Prerequisite: None
Tools: tweezers or beading awl for knotting
Materials:
- 2 x size 4 or 6 (depending on beads used) of carded silk or nylon thread with attached needle.
- 2 strands of beads that vary in size/shape (for example, one strand of round 4 mm beads and one strand of slightly larger oval or nugget shaped beads)
- Accent beads as desired (if you are using turquoise, try adding a large pearl or pewter piece or add a crystal.
- 2 x clam shells
- Clasp – make sure to choose a clasp that sufficiently supports the weight of your beads.
