Take the ancient art of Japanese braiding to a new level when you learn how to combine leather cord and rolo chain into a beautiful braided bracelet using a Kumihimo braiding disk. This quick and easy technique produces beautiful braids that you can use for bracelets, chokers, and necklaces. You will leave this class with a better understanding of kumihimo braiding and ready to experiment with combining other materials to make more beautiful cords and fun bracelets.
What you will learn:
- How to mix chain and leather to create a beautiful braided cord
- How to add bullet ends and a clasp to finish your bangle
Prerequisite: None, prior kumihimo experience helpful, but not necessary
Materials: Students will need to purchase the following materials:
- 1 Round Kumihimo 6” disk
- 1 pair “Bullet cap” end caps – 8mm
- 60 inches of leather cord (1.5 – 2mm)
- 60 inches of rolo chain (color should match your end caps and clasp)
- 2 feet of 22 or 20 gauge wire
- Bracelet clasp
All materials are available at Bead Inspirations. We recommend that you come to the shop in advance of class to select your materials.
Optionally – you can come to the shop 30 minutes prior to the start of class and we will assist you in choosing your materials. Please have your materials ready when class starts.
