Sea Glass Necklace / Earrings

Sea glass is produced from various sized pieces of discarded glass shards, tumbled smooth by salt-water sea waves, rocks and sun over many years. This multi-year tumbling process results in a beautiful one- of-a-kind translucent keepsake piece. Sea glass comes in many colors – with the most common being white, green, and brown.

In this fun new class, you will learn several techniques for wire wrapping and embellishing the 2 pieces you select. You will be amazed at how quickly you will master this technique, and how easy it will be for you to design and complete your project. You will leave with 2 finished pendants or a pair of earrings, and the know-how to make many more of these quick and unique pieces as gifts!

What you will learn:

• Basic wrapping techniques for “mini” pieces of Sea Glass, to give your pendant or earrings the “wow" factor

• Creating wire loops to secure the pendant or earrings to the necklace or earwires

• Integrating beads and embellishments into your design

Prerequisite: None

Tools: Supplied in class.

Tools & Materials:

Tools will be available for your use during class.  You will also be able to select 2 pieces of sea glass for your project(s) (enough for 2 pendants or 1 pair of earrings), with extra pieces available for sale.  You can bring other materials to use in your project, or come to class 30 minutes early to select your sea glass and then purchase complementary materials from the shop.  Depending on your design, you will need wire-wrapping material (20 or 22 gauge wire wrap), and beads or seed beads to create your unique design. Additionally, you will need earwires (if making earrings), or leather cord or silk strands for the necklace.
